Gap is the driver's best lap in a session against the fastest lap in their class in that same session (zero is fastest in class), shown as time lost and as a share of the lap, so conditions cancel out and tracks can be compared. Typical is the median session.
Thank you for your letter and corresponding data files. SMAC does not believe this request would improve the balance of performance for the class. After logging temperature data with the turn signal light in and out at 2 different tracks on a well prepared national front running car, we have found that the average intake temperature reduction is 10-15 degrees F. Utilizing industry standard corrections for hp, removing the turn signal assembly would net roughly 2 hp. Based on the 2025 Runoffs deep dive analysis AIM performed for us, the NA8 does not show it needs any additional horsepower but could benefit from a slight weight reduction. Acceleration rates were measured in six separate 5 mph increments from roughly 55-95 mph. In 4 out of the 6 increments that NA8 was the fastest accelerating car. See letter #39387 for the weight reduction request.
Thank you for your letter. A comprehensive look at BOP for all model years is ongoing. The request for additional sway bar options will be considered in the larger BOP picture.
Thank you for your letter. The CRB does not recommend making any changes for the NA8 at this time. Given the performance of the NA8 finishing P2 at the Runoffs in 2020 as well as the data evaluation done by SCCA from data boxes put into the top cars at the Runoffs we believe the data does not support a change. The CRB and SMAC appreciates all the time and effort that was put into this letter and supporting documentation and conducted a call with the 4 letter writers for NA8 bop suggestions to share with them our findings through data as well as a custom race simulation program written specifically for SM BOP calculations. The call was a couple hours long and was attended by representation from the SMAC, CRB, and SCCA management.
Thank you for your letter. The SMAC does not currently recommend this change at this time. SMAC/SCCA have a plan in place to gather more data on all model year cars and will continue to monitor entries, finishing results and the data we collect throughout the season.

Thank you for your letter. The SMAC has extensively reviewed multiple forms of data regarding performance and believes that balance of performance for the entire class is being achieved at this time.
Thank you for your letter. We are currently working on several programs to contain cost while providing the racing community with a tire that meets their standards. Please reference letters 24462 and 27041 in an upcoming Fastrack.
