Gap is the driver's best lap in a session against the fastest lap in their class in that same session (zero is fastest in class), shown as time lost and as a share of the lap, so conditions cancel out and tracks can be compared. Typical is the median session.

Effective 6/1/2026 In GCR, Section3.7.4.A.1.a, add the following: "For 2026 Only: Due to cancelled U.S. Majors Tour races in both the Northeast and Southern Conferences, drivers whose Division of Record on May 1, 2026 was Northeast Division or Southwest Division may substitute one additional Regional-sanctioned weekend for a second Majors weekend participation. A driver from these Divisions is now eligible to run 1 Majors + 3 Regional weekends to qualify for the 2026 National Championship Runoffs."
We appreciate your perspective and feedback. Legends cars have a regional ruleset and our allowed to run in the same group as Production cars at Regional events and Conference Majors events. The Club Racing board is not interested in combining these cars into Production classing.
In SCCA racing, combining SM and SMX into a single class is not a sound approach. The performance disparity between the two is significant, approximately seven seconds per lap based on the best laps from the 2025 SCCA Runoffs, and such a merger would compromise the integrity and competitiveness of SM, one of SCCA’s most successful classes.
At this time, the 115% rule will be used for the Hoosier Tire SCCA Super Tour and the SCCA National Championship Runoffs competitions to ensure that drivers are on pace with the front runners. The Race Directors and Clerks of the Course for both HSTs and the Runoffs will be keeping an eye on drivers who are failing to meet the 115% requirement, and provisions are being considered for inclusion in the supplemental regulations. Our goal is to allow maximum, safe, and fair participation for all SCCA eligible drivers.
Thank you for your letter. The Club Racing Board appreciates your comments. The locations of impound and the podium are specific to the layout of each facility and are determined by the officials who organize individual events. It would not be feasible for SCCA to require impound and the podium to be placed in close proximity to each other at every event.
Thank you for your letter. The Club Racing Board appreciates your comments. The Runoffs is certainly a method to leverage participation during the season and always has been. Keep in mind that prior to the Majors/HST format a Runoffs entry was achieved by participation and finishing position in National races held in your home Division. There was no Regional path to Runoffs. You may now qualify by participation/finish in any Conference with the ability to utilize the 2+2 path which allows one to count Regional Participation in lieu of Majors; the number of participants who utilize that path is very small. Please see the response to letter #37307 in this Fastrack.
Thank you for your comments. The Runoffs Supplementary Regulations are very specific about fuel requirements that must be followed at the Runoffs and the penalties that will be incurred for violation. The GCR Advisory Committee recommends that Club Racing Board and Club Racing staff revisit this for 2025.
Thank you for your letter. Impound All has been done post race on occasion, often times however there is an issue of space. We agree that comradery is an important and sometimes lacking component of our events.
In GCR, Section 9.1.9.2.D.8.a., add the following: "9. OEM fog lights may be removed. The resulting hole may be directed to brake ducts or coolers, any resulting hole not used for cooling must be covered."
Thank you for your letter. There is no provision in the GCR that prevents a ‘full pull” at end of sessions. However, the challenges of impound area size and limited impound staffing from event to event precludes having a full run group pull done after every session at all Club Road Racing events.
Thank you for your letter. GCR Section 6.11.1. E. stipulates that a driver shall stop at a designated location to allow stewards to review incidents. It is the investigating stewards’ responsibility to determine whether an RFA is the appropriate action to be taken. We agree that incidents where one or both cars cannot continue are more significant than ones with incidental contact and should be treated appropriately.
Effective 03/01/2022 In GCR, Section 9.1.10.E.27., change as follows: "OEM or exact replacement catalysts are permitted. Any part of the exhaust system beyond the primary catalytic converter(s) may be replaced provided: Only OE catalyst are permitted. The exhaust system downstream of the primary catalyst may be replaced provided:"
