Gap is the driver's best lap in a session against the fastest lap in their class in that same session (zero is fastest in class), shown as time lost and as a share of the lap, so conditions cancel out and tracks can be compared. Typical is the median session.

The Road Racing Competition Committee does not recommend this change because the FM uses a number of major components that fall outside the general FC rules. While two cars that are reasonably close to the class concept have been allowed into FC as "spec line" cars, the rules state that additional spec line cars are disfavored. Creating an additional spec line for a car that uses several major components that do not comply with the general rules is outside the scope and intention for the class. To the extent that a performance disparity between the FM and other cars in the FX class is a concern, the RRCC notes that competitors facing this situation in other classes have sometimes organized an unofficial championship for that car type within their class and/or recognized individual competitors' performance by awarding separate trophies and taking their own podium photos. This has worked well both regionally and nationally but does require organization on the racers' part.
The Club Racing Board does not recommend this change because the FMzR uses a number of major components that fall outside the general FC rules. In situations where a disparity in performance exists within a class for a particular car, competitors have sometimes organized an unofficial championship for that car type within their class and/or recognized individual competitors' performance by awarding separate trophies and taking their own podium photos. This has worked well both regionally and nationally but does require organization on the racers' part.
The Club Racing Board does not recommend this change. The advisory committee attempted to contact the writer to obtain more information but received no reply. The requested information may be submitted with a new letter via the CRB letter log system if the writer remains interested in pursuing the request.
In FX, GCR section 9.1.1.J.B.1, change as follows: "Formula Mazda – Shall comply with GCR 9.1.1.E (2019) notes in Table 1." In FX Table 1, Formula Mazda spec line, change the notes as follows: "Marking tires is no longer required. Car must comply with all December2019 GCR Formula Mazda preparation rules specifications found here: https://www.scca.com/downloads/48184-gcr-december-2019/download FormulaMazda-FM- Rules." **Attach new document to site link.**
The FMZR will be classed in FA upon proof of compliance with GCR 9.4.5 Roll Cage Specification, other applicable safety regulations, and submission of the specification list prepared by the FSRAC.
Thank you for your letter. The CRB does NOT RECOMMEND and is unable to classify the Pro Mazda Tatuus PM-18 in FA due to the absence of engine build, mapping and performance specifications. While the CRB will consider and approve sealed engines for use in SCCA Road Racing, all pertinent build and performance related criteria must be provided for purposes of approving the classification and ultimately for publication in the GCR so as to permit compliance inspections as may become necessary in the course of competition.
