Gap is the driver's best lap in a session against the fastest lap in their class in that same session (zero is fastest in class), shown as time lost and as a share of the lap, so conditions cancel out and tracks can be compared. Typical is the median session.

#36085 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2024-07 Fastrack)
Thank you for your letter. While C-Spec will likely have a spec tire at some point in the future, the committee will not
be specifying a tire for a regional class that has just begun its development.
While the Hoosier 225/45/17 is certainly wide for its stated size, there are examples of the first generation Mazda 3
racing in T4 with 245 Hoosiers at all four corners. Further, specifying the Toyo RR for the class would not be a wise
due to the fact that this tire is going to be phased out and replaced by Toyo at the end of this year.
Many of these vehicles came from the factory with optional 17-inch wheels. The reason that this diameter was
selected was because while some cars use a 4x100 bolt pattern, many of them utilize a 5x114 or similar bolt pattern.
Competition-grade 15-inch wheels are difficult to find in this bolt pattern, and 16-inch race tires are not commonly
available. The committee was also informed that there was a Mazda 3 that recently ran at Palmer in C-Spec trim with
the specified tires and had no clearance issues.

#33558 from Mike Ogren · Rule change · TB 23-06 (2023-06 Fastrack)
In B-Spec and C-Spec Categories Specifications, GCR Section 9.1.10.E.8., add the following:
"Wheels: For B-Spec Required wheel/rim diameter is fifteen inches (15”). Maximum wheel/rim width is seven inches (7”).
Minimum Wheel/rim weight shall be 13 lbs. For C-Spec Required wheel/rim diameter is seventeen inches (17”). Maximum
wheel/rim width is eight inches (8”). Minimum Wheel/rim weight shall be 17 lbs.."
#33557 from Mike Ogren · Rule change · TB 23-06 (2023-06 Fastrack)
In B-Spec and C-Spec Categories Specifications, GCR Section 9.1.10.E.36., add the following:
"Suspension: B-SPEC competitors may use the OEM suspension, the specific suspension kit approved on the spec line or any B14
Bilstein shock or strut with no modifications except as required for mounting or to achieve allowed camber. C-Spec competitors
may use the OEM Suspension, the specific suspension kit approved on the spec line or TBD. Any camber plate may be used, but
may not alter caster. Caster shall be within factory specification. Any part required to adapt the B14’s to the car must be
submitted for approval by the CRB and added to the individual spec line. Any spring, including ‘helper’ or ‘tender’ springs, up toa maximum spring rate of 500 pounds may be used. for B-Spec the maximum spring rate is 500# front and rear, for C-Spec the
maximum spring rate is 600 pounds front and 800 pounds rear. Spring are allowed to be strapped or zip tied to the body. The
purpose of the strap should be to keep the spring in place when the axle goes into rebound. The strap can serve no other
function. Bump stops may be deleted but cannot be modified or substituted and shall serve no other purpose. Adjustable sway
bar end links may be used on all cars. Sway bars may be disconnected and removed.

#31925 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2022-02 Fastrack)
Thank you for your letter. This change is not recommended. Building to the currently specified compression ratio is the
responsibility of the engine builder, and it is believed that the car will be competitive as classified, once that is accomplished.

#31796 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2022-04 Fastrack)
Thank you for your letter. You are correct that there are cars where all air does not enter the engine through the carburetor or
throttle body, in classes/categories where this is an issue it will be referenced in the specific rule set and not though a global
rule.
#31542 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2022-01 Fastrack)
Thank you for your letter, but this is not recommended. Trying to balance the potential of different tires through weight breaks
would be a difficult and unrealistic exercise, with constantly moving targets. It would also create an even bigger disparity in how
different cars achieve their lap times. Competitors are free to use whatever tires they'd like, but their competitiveness cannot
be guaranteed.
#31125 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2021-10 Fastrack)

Thank you for your letter. The VW Beetle never came from the factory with the 1835cc engine.
#28229 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2020-03 Fastrack)
Thank you for your letter, but this request is not recommended at this time. No new knowledge has
been presented to make performance potential expectations any different than originally believed. This
classification has also not been campaigned enough to gather sufficient real world data, nor has it been
campaigned at the highest levels and subject to thorough technical checks and investigation.
#28228 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2020-03 Fastrack)
Thank you for your letter. This request is not recommended at this time. Factory valve clearances cannot
be taken into account for every classification, nor is it believed that variances of this spec from car to car
will have any effect on performance potential or class balance.

#27855 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2020-01 Fastrack)

#27410 from Mike Ogren · Not recommended · Minutes (2019-12 Fastrack)
Thank you for your letter. Not recommended as written. To be considered, valid reasoning
and supporting evidence would need to be presented as to why the original OEM stock piece is
unavailable and/or impossible to find, or is inadequate for racing purposes. Recommended alternate
components would need to be presented, and why it/they would solve these problems.
