Gap is the driver's best lap in a session against the fastest lap in their class in that same session (zero is fastest in class), shown as time lost and as a share of the lap, so conditions cancel out and tracks can be compared. Typical is the median session.
Effective 5/1/26, in Appendix C, GCR section 2.1.A, change as follows: "Everyone who applies for an SCCA Competition License or Permit must submit a completed SCCA Physician's Examination and Medical History Form, a valid Federal Aviation Authority Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3 Medical Certificate or a completed FAA BasicMed Form (FAA 8700-2 Comprehensive Medical Examination Checklist), or a completed NASA-approved Medical Evaluation form, or a completed FIA member-club medical evaluation form that specifically notes a medical sign-off for motor racing (e.g., an IMSA medical form). For the purposes of SCCA competition licensing, the term "form" refers to any of these. The form must be submitted every 5 years for applicants ages 14-39; every 3 years for applicants ages 40-49; every 2 years for applicants ages 50-69; and every year for applicants' age 70 and over. In GCR 3.1., add the following and adjust additional lettering: "C. Driver Eligibility 1. Age of Majority (Generally 18+ but may vary – check local laws.) a. Current Annual Membership in the SCCA. b. c. Parental consent and minor waiver as outlined in Appendix C 1.3.B.1 d. Minor drivers without a state driver’s license must have a valid SCCA Novice Permit. 3. Physical and Medical Fitness Drivers must not be on medication or have a medical condition that impacts the ability to participate and be able to handle the physical and mental demands of competition for the length of a session for each session of the event."
In GCR, Section 9.1.C.2. change as follows: "2. In addition, organizers may include any combination of the following Optional Regional Classes in their events defined in 3.1.2." In GCR, Section 9.1.C.2. add the following: "c. Race Experience Vehicles Race Experience (RE) (Optional Regional Class): Cars which fall within the requirements of Race Experience, meeting vehicle eligibility, performance range and the required modifications and safety gear in SCCA Race Experience Section 3, “Race Experience Vehicles.” Note: When running as a class at a GCR event, RE Vehicles should either run as a single class, or be classed with Improved Touring catch-all classes. E.g., IT-EZ, ITX, etc."
In Cars and Equipment, GCR section 9.4.G.1, change as follows: "All portions of the roll cage subject to contact by the driver must be padded. Padding either must be with a minimum 1 inch of material. Padding that meets or exceeds or must meet or exceed SFI 45.1 or FIA 8857-2001 (curved padding), or SFI 45.2 or FIA sports car head rest material (flat padding). Padding that meets SFI/FIA specifications is recommended."
